Fit notes

Employees are required to obtain a Statement of Fitness for Work (or Fit Note) covering the period from at least the eighth day of illness, inclusive of weekends and bank holidays.

The fit note will advise if an employee is unfit for work or, alternatively, ‘may be fit for work’.  A ‘may be fit for work’ Statement will be provided by a GP where an employee’s health condition may allow a return to work with suitable temporary support, such as amended work duties or altered hours.
