Under the Equality Act 2010 there are nine protected characteristics making it unlawful to discriminate on the grounds of sex, race, age, religion or belief, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership and maternity and pregnancy. Discrimination in regard to equality and diversity can come in the forms of direct, indirect, associate, perceptive, harassment and victimisation. In addition when we consider it is often the ‘perception’ of the person who feels they are being, for example harassed and the complexities of managing ‘banter’ within the workplace it is an area that companies must take seriously.

The course makes an informative and eye-opening session that all staff will be able to benefit from. It is aimed at all staff to develop their awareness of the importance of equality and inclusion within the workplace, the organisation’s and an individual’s obligations in line the equality Act.
