A 3-hour instructor-led classroom session delivered in your workplace to meet your minimum legal requirements. This session includes an introduction to the basic principles of workplace safety and the identification of workplace hazards, exploring best practice and risk assessment. It introduces them to the law and where to seek practical guidance for best working practise.

The session encourages delegates to ask questions and seek answers to questions they may have.  It can be tailored to your organisation’s specific health and safety policies.

Outline and content

  • Basic principles of workplace safety. 
  • An overview of the legal requirements in the UK, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases, and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013.
  • Recognise and develop awareness of common hazards in the workplace.
  • Explore the management of risk in the workplace and identifying control measures .
  • Explore risk assessment.
  • Exploring where to find further help.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session delegates will have greater understanding of what good working practice looks like, and appreciate the benefits to themselves and those affected by their work by planning tasks with care and following safe working practices, as well as assisting their employer in meeting the organisation’s legal obligations. It will provide delegate with essential skills, confidence and awareness to know when they are working safely and challenge unsafe conditions.
