Agents4RM invests in Workplace Law to create International Workplace

International FM consultancy, Agents4RM, has acquired a 50% stake in Workplace Law Group, bringing together two well-known industry figures – Lionel Prodgers and David Sharp – to create a global learning and development business as a core component of a global professional services business for the FM and built environment sector.

Workplace Law is already a leading provider of consultancy and training with particular prominence in the FM sector. Workplace Law’s award-winning elearning platform, and its accredited provider status with institutes such as IOSH, NEBOSH, IEMA and CIPD, provide a solid base from which to expand both in the UK and internationally.

The joint venture will see Workplace Law change its name to International Workplace and will expand its services into global markets. The new business will be led by Sharp, Managing Director of Workplace Law, who founded the firm 19 years ago.

The new venture aims to capitalise on the increasing demand from international businesses for:

  • Consistently delivered, cost effective learning and development programmes
  • Training to internationally accredited standards
  • Service delivered through reliable entrepreneurial learning management systems

Key targets are the emerging markets in the Middle East, Asia and south-east Asia, in addition to mature FM markets such as the UK, Europe and the Americas.

The new company will continue to support Workplace Law’s existing client base, broadening its existing focus on UK law to encompass regulatory support in line with international standards. The transition to International Workplace will take place over the next three months.

Agents4RM’s investment in Workplace Law forms part of a three-pronged approach to build a global professional services business for the FM and built environment sector. The strategic consultancy business has already extended into Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific and an Information Management Bureau is in development.

Workplace Law’s Managing Director, David Sharp, said:

“I’ve known Lionel a long time, and we have a shared interest in the benefits that technology can bring to learning and development in the corporate environment. The investment from Agents4RM, access to its network of international affiliates, and its operating base of over 40 locations worldwide, all add up to a compelling proposition for International Workplace.”

Agents4RM’s Managing Director, Lionel Prodgers, added:

“David Sharp is well known to most movers and shakers in the business of FM.  He has built an excellent team at Workplace Law and they have rightly earned a reputation for providing quality accredited training and facilities management intelligence for the UK market.  Together we see an opportunity to share our knowledge and expand into emerging markets.   We want to encourage adoption of international standards and best commercial practice across the whole life cycle of the built environment, all with a responsible approach to management.  We are in for an exciting period of international growth.”
