‘Disability Confident’ employers get support

Employers seeking to promote diversity and inclusion will doubtless already be aware of the Disability Confident scheme set up by the UK government. The scheme encourages employers to:

  • challenge attitudes towards disability;
  • increase understanding of disability;
  • remove barriers to disabled people and those with long-term health conditions; and
  • ensure that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations

The scheme has 3 levels designed to support employers at every step on their Disability Confident journey. Each level must be completed before moving on to the next. Details on how to sign up to the scheme are published on the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) website.

The DWP has no published promotional material to help employers registered under the scheme to put the message across to stakeholders inside and outside of their organisation. A branding guide, posters, a presentation template, sample social media posts and a series of case studies can all be downloaded from the DWP website.
