Workplace Law attends the SHP Awards

The Workplace Law Network’s Managing Director David Sharp was present to witness the first ever SHP Awards, held at the Park Lane Hilton on Thursday 4 October.

As guests of NEBOSH Chief Executive Teresa Budworth, Workplace Law participated in an entertaining evening, which was intended both to celebrate health and safety excellence and to rewards high achievers for their professional success.

The 14 award categories were:

  • best health and safety achievement in construction;
  • best health and safety achievement in health care;
  • best health and safety achievement in manufacturing;
  • best health and safety achievement in local authorities;
  • best health and safety achievement in transport and logistics;
  • best health and safety achievement in utilities;
  • training initiative of the year (in organisations with 500-plus employees);
  • training initiative of the year (in organisations with 500 or fewer employees);
  • international achievement;
  • achiever of the year;
  • new entrant to the industry;
  • innovation of the year;
  • campaign of the year; and
  • the IOSH Health and Safety Champion Award.

The award ceremony was hosted by the fast-talking Clive Anderson, whose own legal training allowed him to add colour to the more regulatory aspects of health and safety management without causing any great offence to the great and the good of the health and safety industry, who had gathered for the awards dinner.
