Workplace Law nominated for CDM Co-ordinator of the Year

The Association for Project Safety (APS) last week unveiled the list of projects shortlisted for the APS National CDM Awards 2014 and we were delighted to discover that we have been nominated for the award, CDM Co-ordinator of the Year.

Shortlisted for our work on projects for Land Securities PLC, we face stiff competition from three other excellent nominees. David Fellows, Ridge & Partners, has been selected for his work on the House of Commons Medium Term M&E Programme, while Lend Lease has been chosen for its work on East Coast Main Line between Peterborough and Doncaster. The final nominee in the category is Mouchel Ltd for its work on behalf of the Highways Agency.

Commenting on why the role of a CDM Co-ordinator is so important and explaining how proud we are to be nominated for this award, Workplace Law Head of Health and Safety, Simon Toseland, said:

“I passionately believe that the CDM Co-ordinator role should be a focal part of any project team. They should make themselves available to assist, not just to the client, but also the design and delivery team to ensure no one is harmed during the course of construction.

“Our approach has always been to ensure that any documentation produced is not only project specific, but is effectively communicated and offers a real contribution to effective risk management.”

Simon added:

“I am thrilled that our values have been recognised by the APS in this nomination.”

The winners will be announced at the APS Annual CDM Awards 2014 being held at Conference Aston, Birmingham, on the evening of Tuesday 2 September.
